Christmas Miracle Yeast Rolls

I’ve been burning yeast rolls for 25 years. When I don’t burn them, they don’t rise or they turn out too hard. Whatever happens, they’re never right.

My assignment for Christmas dinner, among a few other things, was rolls. Here we go… showtime.

I thought to myself, “I’m not a quitter, I’m a roll makin’ mommy. Let’s do this thing.”

By divine providence, everything but “Rhodes Bake and Serve White Dinner Rolls” had already been taken off the shelves at Wal-Mart.

I went through the routine I always do with yeast rolls. I placed the baking sheet and I let them sit, thaw and rise. But this time, I actually let the dough do the work and forgot about them for the full 5 hours that they were supposed to sit.

Amazingly enough, that works. Maybe it was the massive “Hot Wheels T-Wrecks” track that took me two hours to put together for my son today, or maybe it was just patience and cooking maturity. Ok, it was the hotwheels… but whatever it worked!

25 years! The rolls were beautiful. They were more than beautiful, they were a Christmas miracle.

Let the dough do the work on your frozen yeast rolls. That’s 25 years of experience and burnt, hard rolls talking.
